Grotto, The Real World
2015
284 x 346 cm
Oil on canvas

Grotto, The Real World, is the fouth grotto painting in larger hyper work She in Four Acts, the central part of the painting, has the same proportions as the original painting The Virgin of the Rocks by Leonardo da Vinci. It is also closer in color, the previous Grottos for the other acts in She in Four Acts are more monchrome, depending on the theme of the act. But Grotto, The Real World is closer to reality, the world world, and the palette of Leonardo. All the grotto paintings are related to Indicator, an earlier work, a paraphrase of a particular part of The Virgin of the Rocks, the face of the angel, a motive the artist had been repeteadly worked with since her infance.
